GM To Rev Up 2003 Oakland Chinatown StreetFest

OAKLAND, Calif. - When the 16th Annual Oakland Chinatown StreetFest gets underway Saturday-Sunday, August 23-24, General Motors will join in on the festivities with a revved up vehicle display with interactive elements. The display will revolve around two popular GM nameplates - Buick and Cadillac.

A GM Palace will be created for displaying hot new products. The display, themed "Celebration of the Chinese American Heritage, saluting the spirit of Su-Wu", will feature several vehicles, including Cadillac CTS, Cadillac Escalade, Buick Rendezvous and other vehicles. The display is a recreation of the last scene of the story in which Su-Wu returns home and is honored by the king. After experiencing these GM vehicles and completing a lead generation card, which includes a series of five questions regarding either Rendezvous, CTS or Escalade, attendees will receive a premium and can take pictures sitting at the king's seat with Su-Wu.

"GM has been an active supporter of Chinese community events for years, and is committed to promoting culture diversity around the country," said Katherine W. Zhang, GM Corporate Diversity Marketing Asian American Market Manager to Asian Americans. "We are also excited that we will be able to showcase several of our dynamic products at the festival, and to provide our Chinese consumers with the opportunity of experiencing them."

The GM booth will be located on Franklin Street between the 8th and 9th Streets. The display will be opened from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. As the exclusive automotive partner of StreetFest, GM is honored to be the 2nd year title sponsor of the Oakland Chinatown Street Festival.
